Building Businesses that prioritize People, Environment, and Transparency over Profits

Hi 👋, I’m Silas, a Wisconsin-born Entrepreneur helping high-potential Catholics start businesses so that together, we can influence the world back to God.

Today, I lead the North America ClimateTech & Sustainability Recruitment Desk for NextWave Partners, a recruitment consultancy globally headquartered in Singapore.

My wife Lynn and I married in August of 2023 and live in Wisconsin for now, but we plan to move to Nashville, Tennessee, in 2025. She’s originally from Uganda, so the Wisconsin winters are not a highly desirable place for her to live long-term.

Current Interests

Currently, I have a few main interests. Feel free to reach out if you’re interested in any of these, and we can discuss them.

  • How Catholics can help influence the culture back towards God using entrepreneurship and business building

  • The future of recruitment: how consultancies will capture more value using AI & how the recruitment landscape will change broadly

  • Growing and structuring family wealth and the responsible transferring of and use of that wealth

  • Green Technology Innovations and all of the considerations to keep in mind when building a startup in that space

  • Alternative education

  • The future of ‘ethical business’ practices. Specifically business structures that allow for more equitable employee compensation and long term incentive alignment

Originally launched in 2021 to help educate myself on the ClimateTech Space. Since 2023, the podcast has focused on interviewing Leading CT Investors and Founders to share their stories and advice on building in the CT space. We hope that this will be a tremendous resource.

Starting in August of 2023, Somil Aggarwal will be co-hosting and co-leading this project with me.

This is something that matters a lot to me as I come from a part of the country that is in denial about climate change and thinks renewable energy will collapse the economy. So, I’m spreading the word on the viability of the tech and its impact on the world.

Reviewer of Pizzas

Something I started doing in the spring of 2021, is reviewing pizzas. During the pandemic, I became a big fan of Dave Portnoy’s Pizza Reviews so I decided to start doing them myself since I love Pizza (how can you not if you live in NYC)

You can check out my Instagram to see some of my reviews.

The Deliberate Zoomer

Originally started with my friend Michael Simonton, based on my reading of Meg Jay’s book, The Defining Decade. I eventually continued it with Katja Borger in 2022 and 2023.

Currently, the project is on hold as I am focusing on other things.

The point of the show was to give practical advice to fellow Generation Z’ers (I like to refer to us as Zoomers) on how to get started in our lives and careers.

Blogging

I’ve been blogging at varying levels of consistency since February of 2019. If you’d like to read some of my work you can do so by checking out my Medium Account.
